Itinerary
Day 1. Board our transatlantic flight.
Day 2. After arrival in Germany we drive to RUHPOLDING, high up in the Alps, to our Alpine chalet hotel, home for the next week. We will have time to explore the lovely shops and boutiques in town before going to our hotel for check in and dinner.
Day 3. Into Austria this morning to Mozart´s birthplace and where "The Sound of Music" was filmed, SALZBURG! The smell of roasting almonds and wood fires drifts over this magical city. The Christmas markets here are known for their glassware and fine confections.
Day 4. Today we travel into MUNICH, famous for beer, brats, oom-pah bands and the Hofbräuhaus. We will see the Marien Platz, the Englischer Garten, and the world-famous Glockenspiel. You will have a wonderful afternoon browsing the endless market stalls at the Christmas Market.
Day 5. Across the snowy Alps to the winter Alpine capital of INNSBRUCK Austria, twice site of the Winter Olympics. The Alps rise high above as you wander the cobblestone streets finding unique gifts for your family and friends.
Day 6. Known for its Christmas celebrations and markets for more than 600 years, Traunstein beckons us today. A famous Bavarian resort, the town charms everyone with its bells, carolers, bands and wonderful "Gemütlichkeit". Later it’s off to the WALDMARKT or “Market in the Woods” where over 300 booths have been set up in a beautiful forest setting.
Day 7. We begin the day by crossing Lake Chiemsee by ship to visit the Christmas Market on the Frauen Island. A unique experience in itself.
Day 8. Transfer to the airport to board our transatlantic flight back to the USA.
