Itinerary

Day 1. Board our transatlantic flight.

Day 2. After arrival in Germany we drive to IHRINGEN, a tiny wine village in southwest Germany, home for the next week. We will have time to explore the lovely shops and boutiques in town before going to our hotel for check in and dinner.

Day 3. Into France this morning to one of the loveliest medieval towns in the Alsace, COLMAR. The city is famous for its fine ceramics, delicious cookies and fine chocolates. A stroll through the ancient cobblestone streets is a perfect way to start the season.

Day 4. Today we travel into FREIBURG, home to a famous university and a wonderful market right outside the Cathedral. Artisans from the whole Breisgau area bring their homemade wares to the market. The gifts are unique, colorful and very affordable.

Day 5. Across the snowy Alps to the winter Alpine capital of LUCERNE SWITZERLAND. The Alps tower above the glistening Lake Lucerne as you stroll from arcade shop to cozy boutique. The rich smells of roasting almonds and hot chocolate fill the little squares and plazas.

Day 6. East into the Black Forest to TITISEE, a tiny town on a pictuesque lake. Known the world over for Black Forest Cherry Torte, this village comes alive in the winter with twinkling lights, hot mulled wine and warm woolen mittens.

Day 7. West over the Rhine into France to the wine village of RIQUEWIHR. Surrounded by great flowing hills of vineyards, this town is known for its exquisite macaroons, roasted to a fine golden glow and served hot out of storefronts directly on the street. Lace and small glassware from here make excellent gifts.

Day 8. Transfer to the airport to board our transatlantic flight back to the USA
