SEPTEMBER 6 – 16, 2019

Includes airport transfers in Europe, entrances and services as noted, daily breakfast, and features overnight cruises between Copenhagen and Oslo, and Stockholm-Helsinki with private inside cabin and private bath; train journey from Oslo to Flam on the scenic Flambana Rail, fjord cruise on the largest fjord in Norway, the Sognefjord by express ship, air flight from Bergen to Stockholm. Participants should enjoy walking, as some sights are available only to pedestrians.

Sept 6: Board our jet for the overnight flight to Europe.

Sept 7: After arrival we transfer into the magical city of Copenhagen for a leisurely afternoon.  We’ll stroll the lanes and alleys of this world capital, and find the monument to Hans Christian Anderson. This evening we will walk through the magical TIVOLI, the gorgeous collection of parks and restaurants and boutiques that is world famous.  Overnight Copenhagen.  

Sept 8. Copenhagen: A city tour acquaints us with the highlights of the city.  We’ll see the Royal Palace, the Little Mermaid and the Carlsberg Glyptotek. This afternoon we transfer to the cruise ship for our overnight cruise to Oslo, Norway. Overnight on board ship.

Sept 9. After we arrive in Oslo, capital of Norway, we have a tour of this wonderful city. We’ll see the Royal Palace, the City Hall, the Akershus fortress. You might want to spend some time at the controversial Vigeland Sculpture park.  Overnight in Oslo.

Sept 10. We take the High Speed Rail across the tundra to Myrdahl, a 4 hour journey with spectacular photography possibilities. After Myrdal we change to the Flambana Scenic Railway to take us over the Flambana Mountains to the village of Flam, located on the banks of the Sognefiord.  Along the way we’ll stop to see the Kjosfossen Waterfalls and perhaps see the Water Goddess.  The breath-taking mountains leap out of the fjord to dizzying heights to create an unbelievably beautiful panorama.  Overnight Flam.

Sept 11. This morning is an enjoyable walk through the Flam valley filled with Nordic flowers and fauna spread across lovely meadows. In the afternoon we board our high speed express ship to take us through the Sognefjord, largest in Norway, to the mountain paradise of Bergen, Norway. Overnight Bergen.

Sept 12. A day in Bergen begins with the Floibanen funicular. The cable car takes us to the top of the Floi mountian for great views of this UNESCO Heritage City, a former key harbor for the Hansa Shipping League of the 15th century. Afterwards we’ll stroll the lanes of the BRRYGEN, another Unesco site, that captures the look and feel of the old time harbor town.  Overnight Bergen.

Sept 13: A quick flight from Bergen and transfer brings us to our cruise ship for our overnight journey to Helsinki.  Overnight on the cruise ship.

Sept 14: A full day in Helsinki begins this morning. A sightseeing tour takes us past all the wonders of this town, including the Senate Square, the Uspenski Cathedral, the Parliament Building, the Sibelius Monument and the Olympic Stadium, site of the summer games in 1952.  Late in the afternoon we transfer to the harbor for our return cruise to Stockholm.  Overnight on the cruise ship.  

Sept 15. Arriving in the morning, we will begin our exploration with a coach trip around the city, viewing the best known sites and buildings. Later, we transfer to a boat to sail around the royal park of Djurgarden and past the most inner archipelago islands.  We’ll see city districts and famous sights such as Stockholm City Hall, The Royal Palace, Ostermalm, Gamla Stan (Old Town), Longholmen and The Royal Djurgarden. During this tour you will get to know 

Sept 16. After an adventurous vacation, we transfer to the Stockholm Airport for our flight to the USA.
