SCOTLAND HIKE!

August 1-10, 2021.

Stunning scenery, mountains, rivers, streams, peace and quiet!  Enjoy the wildlife, history, national parks and challenging trails.  In the evening relax with a delicious dinner, a lovely glass of wine or a dram of whiskey*.  It’s all this and more.  Just put on your day pack each morning and take off.  Your luggage is transported to the next B&B everyday for your convenience.  West Highland

A 9 day, 8 night hike along the 96 miles of the West Highland Trail in Scotland from Milngavie (outside Glasgow) to Fort William.  This is Scotland’s most famous trail and explores the areas of Loch Lomond, Rannoch Moor and Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland.

Includes comfortable B&Bs, breakfast daily, baggage transfers from B&B to B&B Milngavie to Fort William, maps and information packets, 24 hour emergency service if necessary.  The difficulty level is moderate and the accommodations are very comfortable with private bath.  

I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DEPART A DAY EARLIER IN ORDER TO OVERNIGHT IN MILNGAVIE BEFORE THE HIKE BUT THAT IS A PERSONAL DECISION.  IF YOU CHOOSE THIS OPTION, IT MUST BE NOTED ON THE RESERVATION FORM SO I CAN MAKE THE ARRANGEMENTS (LINK IS ON THE HOME PAGE AT THE TOP).

Day 1 Transatlantic flight

Day 2 Arrive in Glasgow, make your way to Milngavie and begin the adventure.  Today we hike to Dryment, about 12 miles distant.  Overnight Dryment. 

Day 3  The trail today takes us from Dryment to Rowardennan, about 14.5 miles.  Overnight Rowardennan.

Day 4  We depart Rowardennan this morning for Inverarnan, about 14.5 miles.  Overnight Inverarnan. 

Day 5 From Inverarnan we set out today for Tyndrum, about 12 miles.  Overnight Tyndrum. 

Day 6  A shorter hike today as we leave Tyndrum for Inveroran, 9.5 miles.  Overnight Inveroran. 

Day 7  About the same distance today, we leave Inveroran for Kingshouse, 10 miles.  Overnight Kingshouse. 

Day 8  From Kingshouse this morning to Kinlochleven, the distance is only 9 miles.  Overnight Kinlochleven. 

Day 9  Our last day of the hike is from Kinlochleven to Fort William, 15 miles but by this time you are well conditioned and fit for everything!  Overnight Fort Williams.  

Day 10. After breakfast, depart Fort Williams on your own for Glasgow Airport or pursue personal plans after this.  

INCLUDES: B&B accommodations,, breakfast daily, baggage transfers during hike from B&B to the next B&B, maps, emergency phone contacts. A complete preparation guide covering clothing, shoes, weather and all anticipated needs.  Luggage maximum 44 lbs.    EXCLUDES transatlantic air (I can help with this, as always), any arrangements before Aug 21 or after breakfast Aug 29 (extra nights optional before or after the hike, I can arrange), transportation to Milngavie (not far from Glasgow Airport via Glasgow Central Train Station; I can arrange this for you if you are not on my flight), lunches, dinners, snacks, personal equipment and REQUIRED health insurance from an international company (RoamRight or Travelex.)  Refunds: if cancelled more than 60 days before departure, refund of land cost less ca. $250.  Thereafter, a declining refund until 14 days prior to departure when it becomes zero.    *these above items not included.
